Scroll DownUse of small props is allowed in each category if the dance is not dependent on them**3 individual acrobatic/gymnastics tricks (not passes) allowed in any routine, unless otherwise noted*If you are unsure which category to enter, Open/Specialty is recommended.Acro - A routine consisting of at least 50% acrobatic tricks/gymnastic passes, combined with traditional moves. Each school performing acro-gymnastics is responsible for bringing their own mats.Ballet - A routine that must consist of ballet technique performed in soft ballet slippers. Character/Musical Theatre - A routine portraying a recognizable character (must be set to music) or one performed to music from a past or present Musical Theatre show reflecting the story of the show. May include lip sync, singing and/or dialog.Hip Hop - A routine consisting of mostly urban style moves (current or classic), including but not exclusive to breakin', poppin', lockin', etc.Jazz - A routine consisting of jazz technique, utilizing isolation, flexibility, jumps, etc.Can be classic or funk, not street or hip hop.Lyrical - A routine that expresses the lyrics/storyline of the song, utilizing balance, extension & expression.Modeling - Casual should be performed to fun and upbeat music. Attire could include off the rack clothing or custom made outfits and should complement the style and personality of the routine. Contestants are to provide appropriate music.Modeling - Formal will be judged on the presence and personality, overall appearance, and the sense of style and charm. Long gowns are to be worn during formal modeling. Contestants are to provide appropriate music.Modern (Interpretive)/ Contemporary - A routine using balance & control, contractions, fall/recovery, abstract or contemporary movements or routines more concentrated on choreographic and performing process of utilizing ground work and level changes.(May include classical and modern movement.)Open /Specialty- This category is to accommodate dances that do not fit in any other categories, routines that include two or more dance styles, or for performers who have more than one routine in a particular category. Also includes specialty routines such as ballroom, Irish step, ethnic, folkloric, clogging, pom/cheer, baton, novelty, song and dance or lip sync.Photogenic- Entries must be entered in advance and all photos must be brought to the event by the director of each school and turned in one hour before the first session and given to the MC. The photos will be judged before the start of the event. Any photos submitted after the designated time will not be judged and will not receive a refund. Winners will be selected in the Junior and Senior levels. All photos must be claimed by the end of the events. That's Entertainment is not responsible for the condition of, or the returning of photos.Pointe - A routine that may be classical or contemporary in style but MUST consist of classic Pointe technique. (75% of routine performed on toe & using Pointe shoes only)Tap - A routine that uses tap technique, emphasizing clarity. Must use taps on shoes. No tap sounds may be in the music, or point deductions will be made.Vocal - A singing presentation in any style (timing, musical range & pitch are judged). May be done acapella or with music. NO lead vocals are permitted on the music - Point deductions will be made. Background vocals are permitted. That's Entertainment will provide one cordless microphone.
